Explore your current and future possibilities when you consider IVF with itrust fertility.

Many people hoping to have a child may have considered or been approached with the possibility of in-vitro fertilisation.

In-vitro fertilisation or IVF is one of the most well-known methods of fertilisation that involves an egg being fertilised in a laboratory. Once embryos are formed, they are either transferred to the womb or frozen to be transferred at a later date.

Regardless of your situation, an itrust fertility IVF treatment can be a great option for you whether you choose to use your own eggs and sperm or choose to use a donor egg or donor sperm.

We are proud of our in-vitro fertilisation success rate that exceeds the national average; a testament to our dedicated team, personalised treatment plans, attentive monitoring, and experience in the field.

Hormone therapy

This stage involves hormone injections that are self-administered to stimulate the ovaries into producing more follicles than usual. Our team will monitor the process to ensure that the ovulation is triggered when the time is right.

Triggering ovulation

This is done through another hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Through a fairly swift and painless procedure, which doesn’t always require a general anaesthetic, the eggs are collected and fertilised.

The final stage

At the end of an ideal treatment cycle (a full treatment cycle, i.e. all the monitoring, tests and procedures required in a full episode of treatment), the implanted embryo generally leads to pregnancy but this may not always be the case. To account for this possibility, our team makes sure that surplus embryos are frozen so another transfer can be made without restarting the entire cycle.

Transferring the embryos

Once the embryos have developed in-vitro, the best options are transferred through the vagina into the uterus. This is painless and feels similar to a simple smear test. Sometimes the embryos are left to develop over a few days to become a blastocyst before the transfer takes place.

Are there risks involved in IVF?

Just like any other medical procedure, there are a few risks associated with in-vitro fertilisation.

The leading risk is that of multiple pregnancies. We take steps to mitigate this by only implanting a maximum of two embryos at a time and freezing the remaining embryos.

There is a 1–2% risk that women using the hormone drugs needed to support an IVF treatment may suffer an adverse reaction. We make sure that if this issue arises, it is identified and dealt with before it has a chance to develop through regular ultrasounds and hormone monitoring.

Our team is always available to answer any questions you may have and help you choose the best and safest treatment for you.
